Mrs. Joseph “Joe” Pankratz nee Marie Frances Listvan of Comfort, Texas passed away in the Town & Country Manor in Boerne, Texas on Saturday, June 22nd, 2013 at the age of 93 years. She was born on October 21st, 1919 in Fayetteville, Texas the daughter of Adolph Listvan and Frantiska Orsak Listvan. Marie married Joe Pankratz on April 1, 1939 in Comfort, Texas. She was a member of the
Gaddis Memorial Methodist Church of Comfort, and a member of the Comfort Garden Club. Marie and Joe worked in their restaurant business until 1954 when they built the complex that is now Turkey Ridge Trading Co. At that time Joe ran the café and Marie opened and ran Marie’s Variety Store. In her later years Marie worked for James Avery Jewelers, a local plant nursery, and as a hostess for many years at the Schaetter’s Funeral Home.

Preceded in death by her parents, husband Joe, three brothers, Adolph, Jerome and Frank Listvan, two sisters, Leona Klemstein and Lil Santleben and son-in-law Jerrah Michael “Doc” Heard husband of Carol Pankratz.

Marie Pankratz is survived by her three daughters, Jo Ann Stiles, Shirley Solis and her husband Kurt, and Carol Pankratz all of Comfort. Five grandchildren, David “Trey” Stiles & his wife Ruth Ann; Eric Solis & his wife Makayla; Rachel Solis; Sandra Kitchens & her husband Mark; Stacy Morris & her husband Troy. 10 great grandchildren, David Stiles IV; Joseph Stiles; Koen Solis; Lindyn Solis; Anabel Jean Kilby; Michelle Kitchens; Mady Kitchens; Blake Melde; Brady Melde; Koby Morris.

One brother and one sister, Jake Listvan of Houston and Margie Bridges of Palestine, Texas also survive her.

Funeral services for Marie Pankratz will be held on Thursday, June 27th, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. In the Chapel of The Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort, with Pastor Carolyn McGuire officiating.

Graveside services and interment will follow in the Comfort Cemetery in Comfort, Texas.

Those who so desire may make memorial contributions in her memory to the Comfort Library, Comfort Volunteer Fire Department, Gaddis Memorial Methodist Church, or to the charity of their choice.

Visitation for Marie Pankratz will be held on Wednesday afternoon from 5:30 to 7:30 P. M. in the Schaetter Funeral Home in Comfort.
